Gapski Ski Instructor Course

Read on for the latest update from our Ski Instructor Training Course:

Despite blistering winds, freezing temperatures and more snow than you can shake a ski pole at, we emerged from our first week relatively unscathed. The team also successfully negotiated an intensive two-day first aid course and so we embarked upon week two. Our instructor for this week was Gavin Lewis (aka Superstar DJ Gavalar); whose deep house/Acappella mash-ups can get any party rocking and it was under his astute guidance that the whole gang improved hugely both in terms of our own skiing ability as well as in our teaching methods. From carving turns on Grand Pré to “freeriding” off the side of Trolles, it was an incredibly productive and enjoyable five days.

In the evenings, we had the opportunity to analyse video footage of each other skiing that had been taken earlier in the day. In the lively atmosphere of the Underground bar and with beers or, in Addie’s case, a vodka lime and soda in hand, it was a massive help to see ourselves ski as well as one another. Everybody really knuckled down this week with our BASI 1 exams looming, but it didn’t stop Henrietta enjoying yet another night out in Val d’Isère in the capable company of her two favourite mincers. Meanwhile back in Funderground, Addie; Hally; Cameron and I bravely sampled their extensive range of flavoured vodka. It was definitely a weekend to remember but come Sunday night, we tucked ourselves into bed early ready for the challenging week ahead…
