Read on for the latest update from our Ski Instructor Training Course:
As we woke up on Monday morning it dawned on us that Judgement Week (BASI 1 Exam Week) was finally upon us. Despite having a relatively relaxing Sunday evening, the nerves definitely did start to set in as we all boarded the bus to training.
However, as soon as Tess (our examiner/trainer) arrived in her BASI blue and white ski outfit, most of our nerves were quickly put to bed. Being as helpful, patient and fun as she was, Tess manage to ease us into the week by spending some days focusing solely on our technique of short and long turns, whilst some days focusing just on our teaching skills. These useful training days paired with occasional trips to the ski park left many of us fairly confident by Thursday night. Little did we know, Tess was about to uncover just how hard we would ALL have to work in order to gain our level one qualification. After being fortunate enough to analyse video footage of ourselves before the final day, many of us were told that we still had a lot of hard work to do on Friday. With Tess’s final message in our minds, we all managed to improve our skills and were finally told up the mountain of our collective success.
We all gathered at the Loop Bar to congratulate each other and buy Tess a cheeky drink. The rest of the evening that followed proved to be just as enjoyable, with most of it spent in the now-traditional Underground Bar. Unfortunately, Addie and Alfie (Alex F) over indulged and fell at the last hurdle!!! Despite this we all managed to have an enjoyable and rewarding weekend.Find out more about our Ski Instructor Course
