Protecting our oceans has become one of the most important environmental protection aims across the world. That's why we have included a comprehensive marine conservation and dive training section into our gap year range. If you're motivated by environmental protection and want to help this magnificent eco-system survive then our range of marine conservation programs are for you!
What to expect on our Marine Conservation programs...
You will learn to dive, attend classes on ocean protection and - based on your chosen location - partake in specific projeect work. Our conservation programs in Thailand, Costa Rica & Fiji need volunteer support on a range of ongoing projects ranging from coral reef restoration to beach clean ups and much more! Guided and taught by experienced dive teams, you will be able to conduct important marine surveys, identify threats to marine species and collect data for internationally recongised organisations, upon which they will base their future conservation plans.
Do I need previous experience to attend?
With no prior diving experience required, our marine conservation programs have been designed for gappers, students, early career professionals and avid divers alike! Internationally recognised qualifications and practical project work will all be part of your marine conservation experience! An interest in diving, environmental protection and marine conservation is all you need to bring!
Will volunteering help me gain work experience for Marine Conservation jobs?
Spending your gap year on a marine conservation course will not only provide you with valuable practical references, but it will also set you up for a career in the industry or build a platform or further study. Previous Gapforce participants have gone on to jobs in marine conservation including leading educational tours, managing dive resorts and leading TV crews in marine environments. Whatever your career goals we will equip you with the crucial skills and experience you need to kickstart your career!
