About Gapforce history school trips

At Gapforce we believe that there is no better way to engage students of history than by taking them to the places where history was made and we are experts in doing just that.

With Greece, Costa Rica, Borneo and Vietnam on our list of destinations for history school trips, we specialise in leading expeditions to some of the most awe-inspiring places on earth and have been doing so for the last 28 years.

What do Gapforce history school trips involve?

Our volunteers have the opportunity to experience all kinds of historically significant places, from scenes of profound tragedy such as the epicentre of the Vietnam War Quang Tri and its famous nineteenth century citadel to triumphs of devotion like the Taj Mahal, an ivory mausoleum built by the emperor Shah Jahan to house the body of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

They can visit millenia-old sites such as Olympia in Elis, the location of the original Olympic Games in Ancient Greece and the Temple of Zeus, and those who which to combine adventure with historical knowledge can hike through the Sacred River to the ruins of Machu Picchu, an Incan citadel high up in the Andes Mountains.

There is also plenty of opportunity for students to experience modern history with a trip to New York City. Students can see the financial district in Lower Manhattan, including the famous Wall Street Bull, and explore some of the Big Apple’s fascinating musuems. There is also the chance to take a ferry trip to Staten Island and see the Statue of Liberty.

What are the benefits of Gapforce history school trips?

Gapforce history school trips are designed to create a profound connection with the people and events of the past, which, taught in the context of a classroom might otherwise feel distant to students in the present day.

Our dedicated Gapforce team use their skills to plan and organise customised history school trips to a wide range of historic sites, including several UNESCO World Heritage centres, to capture the imaginations of students. Our excursions are not only designed to be educational - they are adventures of a lifetime.
