Day 1

Your Morocco trip begins in Marrakech

On arrival at the airport in Marrakech, you will be met by your Gapforce Leader and transferred to your accommodation for a welcome orientation & safety briefing before a welcome dinner in the evening.

Day 2

Marrakech and Matate Village – city tour and scenic drive

Begin the day exploring Marrakech’s iconic sites, including Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace and Medersa Ben Youssef. In the afternoon, journey south through the scenic Oued Rhirhaia valley and Atlas Mountains, passing traditional villages before arriving at the peaceful village of Matate for an overnight stay.

Day 3–4

Matate village – Community project and cultural activities

Over the next few days, participate in hands-on cultural exchange and community service in Matate village. Tasks may include helping farmers with ploughing and harvesting, maintaining mud brick houses, or teaching English at the village school. Enjoy cultural experiences like cooking classes, tea or henna ceremonies, and carpet weaving visits.

Day 5

Essaouira – Journey to Essaouira

Embark on a scenic journey from Matate to Essaouira, crossing the Atlas Mountains and passing traditional Berber villages and stunning valleys. Visit a local cooperative to learn about Argan oil production. On arrival in Essaouira, enjoy the Atlantic sea breeze and explore the town’s unique culture, history and natural beauty.

Day 6

Tour of Essaouira

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Essaouira, also called Mogador, a vibrant coastal fishing town famed for its charm and history. Explore the fortifications, bustling Medina, fishing port and Skala. Visit the Jewish quarter and craft centre, browsing thuya wood products that showcase the city’s rich craftsmanship.

Day 7

Fly home from Marrakech

After days packed with discovery, it’s time to journey home. As you make your way to the airport and reflect on all you’ve experienced – the challenges you embraced, the landscapes you explored, and the people you met – you’ll realise how much you’ve seen and achieved in a short time.

This trip will broaden horizons, strengthen skills, and offer a deeper connection to the world. Students return not only with memories, but with perspectives and experiences that will continue to shape their futures.
