Sample itinerary

Here’s how your school trip to India could look. Take this as a starting point and tailor it to your school (including duration, locations and activities).

Day 1

Your trip begins in Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport in the evening, where you'll be warmly greeted by your Gapforce Leader. Transfer to a hostel in Arusha for a welcome briefing and snack before a restful night's sleep, ready for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – agricultural tour

Begin with an early journey to your campsite in Mto-wa-Mbu village. Settle in, then enjoy a wildlife spotting trip to a viewpoint overlooking Lake Manyara. In the afternoon, explore the local village, learning about rural life, local industries, and sustainable food practices during a tour of rice paddies and banana plantations.

Day 3

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – Wildlife field study

Start the day with a fascinating talk on wildlife conservation efforts and on wildlife surveying, where you'll learn to identify large mammals and understand local habitats and animal behaviours. In the afternoon, conduct a practical field study with walking and driving transects, using GPS to record data that may aid local wildlife conservation efforts

Day 4

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – Maasai Experience

Continue your wildlife survey in the morning. In the afternoon, visit a Maasai village to learn sustainable living practices. Experience traditional bushcraft skills and, with the help of a translator, hear stories and ask questions to enrich your understanding of Maasai culture.

Day 5

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – Tree planting with local school

Engage with local secondary school students, participate in tree planting and enjoy a traditional welcome ceremony. Forge bonds and share stories, creating lasting memories and meaningful connections.

Day 6

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – Local school cultural exchange and activities

Spend the morning engaging in educational and sporting activities with local students. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at camp, unwinding by the pool and reflecting on the friendships and insights gained during your school visit.

Day 7

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – safari

Embark on a full day 4x4 game drive at Tarangire National Park. Spot majestic elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and more amidst the iconic Baobab trees. If you are really lucky, you may even spot a lion hunt unfold!

Day 8

Mto-Wa-Mbu village – Rift Valley Escarpment hike & Maasai market

Hike up the Rift Valley's escarpment, discovering the rich biology and breathtaking views. Spot monkeys, baboons, and birds, ending at a stunning waterfall. Conclude the day with a visit to a Maasai market to sample local delicacies and witness the vibrant culture.

Day 9

Arusha – farm tour

Return to the eco-hostel in Arusha. Enjoy a farm tour with the chance to learn about biogas production, cow keeping, coffee processing, and traditional healing herbs during a scenic river walk, deepening your appreciation for sustainable agriculture. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner and a fun games night

Day 10

Arusha – African art workshop & local market

This morning we will get hands-on experience with traditional crafts at an African Art workshop. After lunch, visit a local market for souvenir shopping before heading to Kilimanjaro Airport for your evening flight home, carrying unforgettable memories back home.

This trip will broaden horizons, strengthen skills, and offer a deeper connection to the world. Students return not only with memories, but with perspectives and experiences that will continue to shape their futures.
